Troubleshooting
If you experience ally of the following
difficulties while using the system, use this
troubleshooting guide to help remedy the
problem before requesting repairs. Should
ally problem persist, consult your nearest
Sony dealer.
[n the event of a problem with the wireless
sound function, have a Sony dealer check
the entire system (main unit and surround
amplifier).
Thepower doesnotturnon.
Check that the AC power cord (mains
lead) is connected securely.
Theremote control d oes notfunction.
The distance between the remote
control and the main unit is too far.
The batteries in the remote control are
weak.
Thediscliddoesnotopenandyou
cannot r emove thediscevenafteryou
press_.
Try the following:
@ Touch and hold I_ and _ on the
main unit for more than 5 seconds
to open the disc lid.
@ Remove the disc.
@ Disconnect the AC power cord
(mains lead) from the wall outlet
(mains), then reconnect after
several minutes.
Thesystem doesnotworknormally.
Disconnect the AC power cord (mains
lead) from the wall outlet (mains), then
reconnect after several minutes.
[Anewsoftware version isavailable.
Pleasegoto the"Setup" section of
themenuandselect"Network
Update" to performtheupdate.]
appears on theTVscreen.
See [Network Update] (page 59) to
update the system to a latest software
version.
"PRTECT", " PUSH"and"POWER"
appear alternately in thetop panel
display.
---* Press I/(_) to turn off the system, and
check the following items after
"STBY" disappears.
• Are the + and - speaker cords short-
circuited'?
• Are you using only the supplied
speakers'?
• [s anything blocking the ventilation
holes of the system?
• After checking the above items and
fixing any problems, turn on the
system. If the cause of the problem
cannot be found even after checking
all the above items, consult your
nearest Sony dealer.
