■ STABILITRAK
®
SYSTEM
This system combines antilock
brake, traction and stability
control systems to help maintain
directional control under most
driving conditions.
When the system senses that there
is a discrepancy between the
intended path and the direction
the vehicle is travelling, it
selectively applies the brakes to
help steer the vehicle.
The system comes on automatical-
ly when you start the engine.
When you first start the vehicle
and begin to drive away, the
Stabilitrak system performs several
diagnostic checks to ensure that
there are no problems.
. . . 90
You may feel or hear the system
working, but this is normal.
The system should be done
initializing before the vehicle
reaches a speed of 32 km/h. In
some cases, it may take approxi-
mately two miles of driving before
the system completes initializa-
tion.
If the system fails initialization, one
of the following messages will
appear on the Driver Information
Center display:
• TRACTION CONTROL OFF
(Traction Control Off)
• SERVICE TRACTION CON-
TROL (service traction control)
• STABILITRAK OFF (Stabilitrak
off)
• SERVICE STABILITRAK (ser-
vice Stabilitrak)
The Stabilitrak Indicator Light will
come on and stay on.
Turn the steering wheel left to the
nine o'clock position and then
right to the three o'clock position.
Doing this may clear the message.
If the message still appears, you
may need to reset the system.
