Installing Options

- Turn the POWER switch off the machine off before the operation.
Operating with the machine of which power is on can cause elec-
tric shocks.
- When lifting this printer, two persons must stand in the front (in the
side of the operation panel) and rear of this printer, and securely
hold the respective concaves on the lower left and right by both
hands. Do not absolutely lift the printer, holding parts other than
the concaves on both sides. Doing so may catch hands between
the printer and floor when lowering the printer.
After installing the options, print out the printer settings list to con-
firm whether the options are installed correctly.
This section explains an example of installing the cassette feeder one step.
When installing two steps, first follow the procedure below to engage the
cassette feeders each other, and then mount one body of them to this printer.
Put the cassette feeder to be installed in the
lower step on a flat place.
Pull out the cassette from the mainframe of this
printer.
Hold the respective parts indicated by the ar-
rows by hands, and lift this printer.
Fit this printer to the corner on the rear of the
cassette feeder.
Confirm that the guide pins on the rear left and right of the cas-
sette feeder are securely inserted in the holes at the bottom of the
printer.
Lower the front of this printer slowly.
Confirm that two guide pins on the right of the cassette feeder
are securely inserted in the holes at the bottom of the printer.
Be sure to slowly lower this printer. Powerfully lowering this printer
may damage the internal parts.
Securely push the appended fixing clips in four
insertion parts on the front and rear of this
printer.
When two steps of cassette feeders are installed, engage them each
other with the fixing clip.
Set paper in the cassette.

Securely push the cassette against the inside.
If the power is turned on as a metallic matter remains put near the
board, the power unit is damaged, and its replacement may be required.
Press the release button on the left to unlock ( ),
and open the top cover ( ).
While pushing the projection of the printer ( ),
shift the right cover to the rear of this printer( ),
and fall down it toward you to remove ( ).
Loosen the screws on the left and right of
the metallic cover, and remove the cover.
When installing the additional memory
When not installing the additional memory,
go to step
.
Hold both the ends of the additional
memory, and securely insert the module
in the slot, turning the notch on the right.
The additional memory is locked with the retaining claws on the
left and right of the slot.
When installing the network expansion card
Loosen the screws and remove the network
expansion card cover that covers the part for
installing the network expansion card.
The removed screws are used to install the network expansion card
in step
.
Board socket
Turn the connector side of the network expan-
sion card on the printer side, and insert the net-
work expansion card in the printer.
Securely connect the connector of the network
expansion card to the board socket of the printer.

Insert the projection at the bottom of the metallic
cover in this printer, and close the cover. Then se-
cure the cover with the screws on the left and right.
Lightly push the two claws in the front of the right
cover ( ) and insert the projections at the two
positions underneath the right cover in the hole
( ).
Shift the right cover frontward, and securely engage
the right cover with the upper and front covers.
Push the center of the top cover to close it.

Insert the special tool attached to the duplex
module as shown below, and remove the cov-
ers at two portions on the rear of this printer.
Carefully store the removed covers.
Insert the projections on the left and right of the du-
plex module in the holes on the rear of this printer
respectively, and slowly fit the module to this printer.
Confirm that the connector of the duplex module is exactly con-
nected to one of this printer.
Open the upper cover of the duplex module.
Secure the center of the duplex module with
the attached screws.
Close the upper cover of the duplex module.
Secure the lower left and right of the duplex
