Turn DIAL TIMER (temporizador dial) to set the day.

Turn and press DIAL TIMER (temporizador dial) to set the month and then the
year.
After you set the year, "AM" and "12:– –" appear alternately in the display

Turn and press DIAL TIMER (temporizador dial) to set the hour and minute.

When you have finished setting the time, press DIAL TIMER (temporizador dial)
to start the clock.
Tips
• To cancel a Dial Timer setting, press x STOP (parada) on the VCR while you are making the
setting.
• The program is recorded in the current tape speed. To change the tape speed, press SP/EP
before you complete the setting in step 9 (page 31).
• To check, change, or cancel the program setting, see "Checking/changing/canceling timer
settings" on page 40.
Notes
• If eight programs have already been set using the manual timer setting, "FULL" appears in
the display window for about five seconds.
• The TIMER (temporizador) indicator flashes in the display window when you complete the
setting in step 9 on page 31 with no tape inserted.
• When the setting time is incorrect, "Err" appears in the display window in step 9. Set the
timer again from step 1.
• You cannot set the tape speed to "AUTO" using the DIAL TIMER (temporizador dial). To
select "AUTO," set the "VEL" position in "Prog./Verif."
About the Demonstration Mode
The DIAL TIMER (temporizador dial) function has a Demonstration Mode that
allows the user, such as a salesperson, to enter more than eight examples of timer
settings when demonstrating the use of the DIAL TIMER (temporizador dial). It
cancels the FULL notice which appears if eight programs have already been set. Do
not use the Demonstration Mode for making timer recordings. Doing so may cause
the settings to be inaccurate.
To activate the Demonstration Mode
Press X PAUSE (pausa) on the VCR while turning the DIAL TIMER (temporizador
dial). "DEMO" appears in the display window for a few seconds.
To cancel the Demonstration Mode
Turn the power off and unplug the AC power cord. Although the Demonstration
Mode is canceled, the timer settings entered while using the Demonstration Mode
will remain. Be sure to manually cancel the timer settings before you use the Dial
Timer or any other timer method after reconnecting the AC power cord (page 40).

You can preset up to eight programs together
with the DIAL TIMER (temporizador dial)*
at one time.
Before you start...
• Check that the VCR clock is set to the
correct time.
• Turn on the VCR and the TV and set it to
the video channel. When using a cable
box, turn it on.
• Insert a tape with its safety tab in place.
Make sure the tape is longer than the total
recording time.
*not available on SLV-LX500.

To use the VCR after setting the timer
To use the VCR before a timer recording begins, just press ?/1. The TIMER
(temporizador) indicator disappears from the display window and the VCR switches
on. Remember to press ?/1 to reset the VCR to the timer recording standby mode
after using the VCR.
You can also do the following tasks while the VCR is recording:
• Reset the counter (page 25).
• Display tape information on the TV screen (page 27).
• Check the timer settings (page 40).
• Watch another TV program (page 28).
To use the Auto Tape Speed function
When you are recording a program in the SP mode and the remaining tape becomes
shorter than the recording time, the tape speed is automatically changed to the EP
mode. Note that some noise will appear on the picture when the tape speed is
changed. If you want to keep the tape speed, select SP. To operate this function, set
"Selc. de cinta" in the OPCIONES AVANZADAS menu correctly (page 46).
Tips
• To set the channel, you can also use the CH (canal) +/– or number buttons.
• To show the "Prog./Verif.," you can use the MENU button. Press MENU, press
move the cursor (B) to "Prog./Verif.," then press OK (aceptación).
• If the indicator appears, the timer settings overlap. To check, change or cancel the program
setting, see "Checking/changing/canceling timer settings" on page 40.
• If the indicator appears, this means that the VCR is currently recording this program.
