7.5 PC5700 Zones

PC5700 Waterflow
The waterflow zones on the PC5700 are hardcoded for
waterflow operation and cannot be reprogrammed.
If waterflow zones are used on the PC5020CF, the PC5700
waterflow zone must be used. This zone is a normally
closed loop between A+ and A- and B+ and B- (class A)
with normally open alarm contacts from the waterflow
alarm-initiating devices. As per NFPA, only five water-
flow initiating devices may be connected to a single zone.
The zone wiring is supervised by the control panel for:
• Short Circuit: Fire Alarm
• Open Circuit: If either the A or B loop is open, this will
be indicated as a Zone Trouble (zone fault)
• Ground Fault: resistance < 40kΩ to earth ground indi-
cated as a Common Ground Fault Trouble.
7.6 Four-Wire Smoke Detector Zones
All zones (except for waterflow zones) can be pro-
grammed for 4-wire smoke detectors. It is always an end
of line resistor type with normally open alarm contacts
from the fire alarm-initiating devices. Multiple contacts
can be connected in parallel on a single zone.
For commercial applications, zones used for 4-wire
smoke detectors can be programmed as Standard Fire.
For residential applications, the zone can be programmed
as Standard Fire.
Power for the 4-wire smoke detectors can be derived from
the auxiliary (AUX+) output on the PC5020 CF main
panel. This detector may be connected to any PGM 1-4.
The PGM must be programmed as Sensor Reset (see Pro-
gramming Worksheets). PGM2 can either be programmed
for a 2-wire smoke detector or a 4-wire smoke detector,
but both detectors cannot be programmed concurrently
on PGM2. For a wiring diagram, see Appendix B-6 'Sen-
sor Reset for 4-Wire Smoke Detectors'.
7.7 Two-Wire Smoke Detector Zones
PGM2 can be programmed for 2-wire smoke detectors.
More than one smoke detector can be connected in paral-
lel, refer to the Compatability Chart in this manual for
details
(see section 6.3).
refer to wiring diagram B.1, see Appendix B. PGM2 must
be programmed for 2-wire smoke support (PGM2 only)
Option[4]. Refer to the PC5020 CF Programming Work-
sheets, 'Programmable Output Options'.

7.8 Fire Supervisory Zone

This zone is always an end of line resistor type with nor-
mally open alarm contacts from the Fire Supervisory initi-
ating devices. A maximum of 20 Fire Supervisory devices
can be connected in parallel on a single zone. The zone
wiring is supervised by the control panel for:
• Short Circuit - Supervisory off-normal
• Open Circuit - loss of the end of line resistor; this will
be indicated as a Zone Trouble
A Fire Supervisory zone monitors fire critical systems to
indicate when those systems are in a condition that could
prevent normal operation. These most commonly moni-
tored devices are sprinkler gate valves to ensure they are
not closed, which would prevent water from flowing to
the sprinklers.
