Printing from AirPrint Compliant Device This document explains how to use AirPrint to print wirelessly from your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to a Canon printer. AirPrint enables you to print photos, email, Web pages and documents from your Apple device directly to your printer without installing a driver.

Important Because some application software does not support AirPrint, Printer Options may not be displayed. If an application software does not let you use printer options, you cannot print from that application software.

Preparations for Using the Print from E-mail To use this service to print a photo or document, you need to follow the procedure provided below and register the printer. Print the Printer Registration Page's URL and the PIN Code First, print the printer registration page's URL and the PIN code. Check that there is sufficient amount of ink in the printer, and then print using the printer's control panel.

Front View operation panel Use to change the settings of the machine or to operate it. Operation Panel ADF (Auto Document Feeder) Load a document to copy, scan, or fax. Confirming that the Power Is On The lamp on the mode button or MENU button is lit blue when the machine is turned on. Even if the LCD is off, if any lamp on these buttons is lit, the machine is on. Note It may take a while for the machine to start printing immediately after you turn on the machine.

Turning the Machine On and Off Turning on the machine Press the ON button to turn on the machine. The lamp on the COPY button flashes and then remains lit blue. Confirming that the Power Is On Note It may take a while for the machine to start printing immediately after you turn on the machine. If the Alarm lamp lights up or flashes orange and an error message is displayed on the LCD, see A Message Is Displayed.

Notice for Unplugging the Power Cord To unplug the power cord, follow the procedure below. Important When you unplug the power cord, press the ON button, then confirm that all the lamps on the operation panel are off. Unplugging the power cord before all the lamps on the operation panel are turned off may cause drying or clogging of the print head and print quality may be reduced.

LCD and Operation Panel You can use the machine to make copies, send/receive faxes, scan originals, or print photos on a USB flash drive without a computer. You can also make good use of the various functions of the machine using the menu screen and the settings screen on the LCD.

Page 50 Entering Numbers, Letters, and Symbols The machine allows you to enter characters by selecting them from an on-screen character list when registering information, such as unit name, a recipient's name for coded speed dial, etc. Switching the Input Mode The machine has three input modes: lowercase mode, uppercase mode, and numeric mode. When you press the center Function button (Aa1), the input mode is switched in the following order: lowercase mode, uppercase mode, then numeric mode.

Page 54 Paper Sources to Load Paper The machine has two paper sources for feeding paper, the cassette (upper) and cassette (lower). The paper source used depends on the page size and media type. Media Types You Can Use Note When printing, select the correct page size and media type. If you select the wrong page size or media type, the machine may feed paper from the wrong paper source or may not print with the proper print quality.

Loading Envelopes You can load European DL and US #10 envelopes. The address is automatically rotated and printed according to the envelope's direction by specifying with the printer driver properly. Important Printing of envelopes from the operation panel or from a digital camera is not supported. Do not use the following envelopes.

Page 80 Cautions When Printing on a Printable Disc Be sure to use the disc tray supplied with this machine. It has a "J" on the upper side. Do not print on printable discs that are not compatible with inkjet printing. The ink will not dry and may cause problems with the disc itself or devices which the disc is loaded onto.
Page 81 Before Placing a Printable Disc The following items are needed to print onto the printable disc: disc tray (supplied with the machine) * Use the disc tray with "J" on the surface. The disc tray is attached in the back of the cassette (upper). Page 82 Placing a Printable Disc To print onto a printable disc, place it on the disc tray supplied with the machine, then insert it into the machine. This procedure also applies to printing from a computer. Important Do not attach the disc tray until the message asking you to load the printable disc is displayed. Doing so can damage the machine.

Page 84 Removing a Printable Disc Pull out the disc tray. Close the inner cover. Important If the inner cover is opened, you cannot print on paper as it will not feed properly. Make sure that the inner cover is closed. Remove the printable disc from the disc tray. Important Do not touch the printing surface when removing the disc from the disc tray.
Page 85 Dry the printing surface sufficiently before removing the disc. If you see printing on the disc tray or the transparent parts on inner or outer diameter of the printable disc, wipe them off after the printing surface has dried. Close the paper output tray.
