Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC Adapter from the computer.
Remove the battery (see Battery on page
Remove the following:
a. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page
b. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page
c. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page
d. Switch cover (see Switch cover on page
e. Display assembly (see
f. Top cover (see Top cover on page
Disconnect the USB/digital media board cable (1) from the system board.
Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws (2) that secure the USB/digital media board to the base
enclosure.
Remove the USB/digital media board (3).
