Testing Preparation
Introduction
This section contains step by step instructions that help
you determine if your IBM Personal Computer AT is
operating properly. You should be in this section if:
You received an error code.
You have a problem with your system.
You have installed certain options.
You have replaced the battery.
In this section you will be instructed to test your system
to determine if it is operating properly. Testing is done
in two parts.
The first part is Power On Self Test (POST). Each
time you turn your system unit on POST automatically
runs.
The second part is System Testing. To run the system
tests you will be instructed to load the Diagnostics
diskette and run the system tests.
This section also contains information on the Setup
program. You will be instructed how and when to run
the Setup program as you go through this section.
Always start this section at "Checking Electrical
Connections" and follow the instructions.
Note:
If
your system unit needs to be moved for
servicing, go to Section 3, "Moving your IBM
Personal Computer AT" for instructions.
