Emergency vehicle battery charger

Condition
E) EVM-12-1 meter does not work -
LED's illuminate.
F) EVM-12-1 bar graph works but
"Charger On" LED does not
G) EVM-12-1 meter does not work
and the DC "Ok" light is not on
H) High output voltage
measured across charger
output terminals.

Possible Cause
1) Remove polarity to meter
2) Remote meter connector
terminals #3 & #1 shorted together
due to meter mis-wiring
3) Open circuit wire disconnected
Remote meter connector terminals #3
& #4 shorted together or open wire
Charger was damaged by
prolonged meter mis-wiring - see
section E-2 above.
Batteries not connected to charger.
It is normal to read 1/2 volt higher
across any output bank when no
batteries are connected

Solution
1) Meter is protected from reverse
polarity. Correct wiring.
2) Immediately disconnect Remote
Meter connector from charger -
remove short and re-connect meter
(prolonged short circuit may damage
charger).
3) Check wiring for open connection.

Return for analysis/repair by se-
vicing dealer where charger was
purchased or contact NEWMAR for
Return Authorization.
Check for tight connection of
charging leads from charger to
batteries.
