TAKING CARE OF UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS

PUMP

No Pump Output

Possible Cause
Throttle lever not in the FAST
position.
Pump not primed.
Suction hose collapsed, cut, or
punctured.
Strainer not completely
underwater.
Air leak at connector.
Strainer clogged.
Excessive head.
Engine lacks power.

Low Pump Output

Possible Cause
Throttle lever not in the FAST
position.
Suction hose collapsed,
damaged, too long, or diameter
too small.
Air leak at connector.
Strainer clogged.
Discharge hose damaged, too
long, or diameter too small.
Excessive head.
Engine lacks power.
Move the throttle lever to the FAST position (see
page 24).
Prime pump (see page 19).
Replace suction hose (see page 16).
Sink the strainer and the end of the suction hose
completely underwater.
Replace hose coupling packing if missing or
damaged.
Tighten hose connector and clamp (see pages 16
and 17).
Clean debris from strainer.
Relocate pump and/or hoses to reduce head
(see page 15).

Move the throttle lever to the FAST position (see
page 24).
Replace suction hose (see page 16).
Replace hose coupling packing if missing or
damaged.
Tighten hose connector and clamp (see pages 16
and 17).
Clean debris from strainer.
Replace discharge hose (see page 17).
Relocate pump and/or hoses to reduce head (see
page 15).
