    - Some CD players can not play the finalized CD-R discs be- cause of the low reflectivity of such discs. The CDR500 is able to record onto any 1X or 2X compatable CD-R and CD-RW disc, including discs for Consumer use and Professional (computer) discs.

    (caused by heating equipment or direct sunlight). If the CDR500 in unable to read CDs correctly, use a commonly available cleaning CD to clean the lens before taking the CD player to be repaired. Other cleaning methods may destroy the lens.

    INSTALLATION The numbers between parentheses refer to the fold-out. The CDR500 can be used to record from any digital or analog audio source, either directly or through a mixer/pre-amplifier. In addition, this unit can also be used as a regular CD player.

    The REMOTE CONTROL (RC5) jacks on the back panel allow an external remote control system to control the playback func- tions of the CDR500. The control system is called RC5 and the chart on the right provides the control code list.   • Page 20: Finalizing/Unfinalizing

    - When Unfinalizing a CD-RW disc with text written on it, the text will be transferred to the CDR500Text Memory. If the Text Memory of the CDR500 is full becuase of text from other unfinalized discs, the message will be displayed. In order to obtain memory space, text on this disc or on the other discs must be erased or other discs with stored text need to be finalized.

    • If the disc is finalized, CD appears on the display after inserting a CD-RW in the recorder drive. The CDR500 will ask you to confirm Unfinalizing first. Confirm by pressing the REC LEVEL/SELECT (13) knob or ENTER (84) on the remote control.

    STANDBY POWER Changer Mode The Changer Mode is the default play mode of the CDR500 and will operate in such a way that both the CD-Recorder and CD- Player drive of the unit work together as one. Only one deck can play at a time and both output from the CDR jacks.
