NOTE: Whenreplacing the blade,besureto installthe bladewith the sideof the
blademarked "Bottom" (orwith a partnumberstamped in it) facingthe ground
whenthe moweris inthe operatingposition.
Use a torque wrenchto tighten the bladespindle hexflange nut to between
70Ibs-ft and90 Ibs-ft.
Changingthe DeckBelt
Besureto shut the engine off, removeignitionkey,disconnectthe spark
plug wire(s) andground againstthe engine to preventunintended starting
[before removngthe be t.
All belts on yourtractor are subjectto wearand shouldbe replaced if any
signsof weararepresent.
IM PORTANT: TheV-beltfoundonyourtractorisspecially designed to engage
anddisengage safely. A substitute(non-OEM) V-beltcanbedangerous bynot
disengaging completely. F oraproperworkingmachine, u seidentical e quipment
beltsaslistedinthe partspages of thisOperator's Manual.
Tochange or replace the deckbelt onyourtractor,proceed asfollows:
Remove t he deckasinstructedearlierinthissection.

Remove t he belt covers from thespindlepulleys byremoving the hexscrews
thatfastenthe covers to the deck.SeeFigure 28.

It mayalsobenecessary t o loosenthe hexnut onthe left deckidlerpulleyto
get the beltoffthe pulleyandaroundthe belt guard.

Carefully remove the deckbeltfrom aroundthetwo spindlepulleys andthe
two deckidlerpulleys.SeeFigure 28.
Toplacethe newbelt, beginbyroutingthe beltaroundthe two outerspindle
pulleys asshownin Figure 28.

Thenroutethe beltaroundthe twodeckidlerpulleys asshownin Figure 28.

Retighten the beltkeeperrodloosened earlier.

Remount the beltguardsremoved earlier.
8.
Re-install t hedeck,makingsurethe belt remainsrouted aroundthe pulleys
asinstructed. T he completebelt routingisshownin Figure 28.

Pullthe rightsideof the belt,andplacethe narrowVsideof the belt intothe
PTO pulley.
10.
Whileholdingthe belt andpulleytogether, r otatethe pulleyto the left.
Continue holdingandrotatingthe pulleyandbelt until the belt isfully rolled
intothe PTO pulley.
ParkingBrakeAdjustment
Neverattempt to adjustthe brakeswhilethe engine isrunning. A lways
[disengagePTO (BladeEngage Lever), moveshift leverintoneutralposition,
[stop engine and remove keyto preventunintendedstarting.
Ifthe tractordoesnot cometo acompletestopwhenthe dutch-brakepedal i s
completely depressed, or if the tractor'srearwheels canroll with the parkingbrake
applied,the brakeisin needofadjustment.Contact t he nearest P arts & Repair
ServiceCenterto haveyourbrakes serviced.

Changing the Transmission Drive Belt
NOTE: Several components must be removed and special tools (i.e. air/
impact wrench) in order to change the tractor's drive belt. Contact the
nearest Parts & Repair Service Center to have your transmission
drive belt serviced.
