The   SMARTClock   is   part   of   the   Disaster   Area   SMARTPedal   series   –   pedalboard   devices  
designed   to   connect   all   of   your   gear   into   a   single   cohesive   unit.     The   SMARTClock   is   a   MIDI

Connecting   t he   S MARTClock  
 
MIDI   I nput:     C onnect   t he   o utput   o f   y our   M IDI   c ontroller   o r   c omputer   t o   t his   i nput.    
 
MIDI   O utput:     C onnect   t his   o utput   t o   t he   i nput   o f   y our   f irst   M IDI   d evice.  
 
Multi   J ack:     M ultipurpose   j ack,   f unctions   a s   t ap   i nput,   t empo   o utput,   o r   M IDI   o utput.  
 
DC9V:     Power   supply   connection.     The   SMARTClock   requires   an   isolated   power   supply   capable   of  
providing   a t   l east   6 4mA   o f   c urrent,   a t   9 VDC   c enter   n egative.     D o   n ot   c onnect   t he   S MARTClock  
to   p ower   s upplies   r ated   a t   m ore   t han   9 VDC.  
 
USB:     U SB   M IDI   c onnection   t o   c omputer   o r   i Pad   w ith   A pple   C amera   C onnection   K it.     T he   S MARTClock  
can   s end   a nd   r eceive   M IDI   t hrough   t he   U SB   p ort.  
 
Tempo   Outputs   A   and   B:     Connections   to   tap   tempo   devices.     Each   output   is   isolated,   and   is  
compatible   w ith   b oth   n ormally   o pen   a nd   n ormally   c losed   ( Boss)   s witch   t ypes.  
 
Encoder:     Rotary   control   knob   for   selecting   menu   options,   subdivisions,   tempo,   or   presets.     The  
encoder   also   functions   as   the   Enter   button   when   pressed.     DO   NOT   PRESS   THE   ENCODER  
BUTTON   B Y   F OOT.  
 
Footswitch:     Soft-­‐touch   momentary   footswitch   for   tapping   tempo,   selecting   presets,   starting   or  
stopping   t he   c lock.
