Checking TheOil Level
NOTE: B e sureto check the oil whileona levelsurface with the engine stopped.
1.
Remove t heoil filler cap/dipstick andwipethe dipstick clean.
2.
Insertthe dipstickinto the oil filler neck. T urnthe dipstick1/4turn into the
locked positionto fullyseat.SeeFigure 15.
3.
Remove d ipstick to check the oil level.
4.
Ifthe levelis low,slowlyaddoil until the reading isat the upperlevelonthe
dipstick.SeeFigure 15inset.
5.
Reinsert the dipstickandturn to lockedpositionbefore startingthe engine.
Gas&Oil
NOTE: The engine isshipped w ithout g asoline a nd withmotor o il intheengine.
However, youMUST check t heoil level b efore o perating. Be careful nottooverfill.
Running t heengine withinsufficient
oilcancause s erious engine damage a nd void
theengine warranty.
Alwayskeephandsandfeet clearof equipment moving parts. Donot usea
pressurizedstarting fluid. Vaporsare flammable.
Oil Recommendations
Beforestartingengine,check oil level,capacityis1700 ml/575 fl. oz.Referto
viscosity chartinFigure 3-1for oil recommendations. Donot over-fill.Use a
4-stroke, o r anequivalent h ighdetergent,premiumquality motoroil certified
to meetor exceed U.S. a utomobile manufacturer's r equirements f or service
classification o f aminimumlevelSJ(higherletter ratingsareacceptable s uch asSL
andSMgrades). M otoroil will display thisdesignation onthe container.
SAE lOW-30isrecommended f or general, a ll temperature use.Ifsingleviscosity oil
isused, s electthe appropriate viscosity forthe average temperature inyourarea
fromthe chartbelow.
Donot usenon-detergent oil or 2-strokeengine oil. It could shorten the
engine'sservicelife.
NOTE: A5w30syntheticoil maybeusedto improvestart abilityforcoldweather
(temperatures b elow40 F).
