Monitor problems
The monitor works when
you turn on the system,
but goes blank after some
period of computer
inactivity.
Blank screen.
Only the cursor appears.
Wrong characters appear
on the screen.
Action
The computer is probably set for energy savings
using one of the power management settings. If
the power management features are enabled,
disabling or changing the settings might solve
the problem.
If this does not correct the problem, contact IBM
technical support.
Verify that:
1. The monitor power cord is plugged into a
working electrical outlet.
2. The monitor is turned on and the Brightness
and Contrast controls are adjusted correctly.
3. The monitor signal cable is securely
connected to the monitor and the monitor
connector on the system board. To find the
monitor connector on the system board, see
"Cable connections and switch settings" on
page 6.
If this does not correct the problem, contact IBM
