Troubleshooting

Power won't turn on
• Is the DC plug of the AC adapter connected to the HT-70's DC12V
connector?
• Is the power cable of the AC adapter connected to an AC outlet of
the correct voltage?
• Is the power turned on? (☞p.8)
• If the power still does not turn on, disconnect the AC adapter
power cable from the AC outlet, and contact a service center.
No sound
• Could the HT-70's [VOLUME] knob be turned all the way to the
left (to immediately before the "0" position)? (☞p.8)
• Is the selected part set to play back? (☞p.17)
• Has performance data been recorded for the selected part? (☞p.15)
• Could the selected part be muted? (☞p.17)
• Make sure that the Local setting is ON (☞p.20).
• Could the multi-display have an error indication (E01)?
If so, an error has occurred in the cable that connects the piano
with the HT-70 unit. Please contact a certified installation techni-
cian or your dealer for service. The error display (E01) will disap-
pear if you press the [▲] or [▼] switch.
• Does error "E04" appear on the multidisplay?
If so, please contact your dealer or a qualified installation techni-
cian for assistance. To clear the error display (E04), press [▲] or
[▼].
If the multi-display indicates "E02"
• The installation data for the unit has been lost, so the default data
has been loaded.
You may continue playing the HT-70, but the volume, pitch, and
pedal action may be inaccurate. Please contact a certified installa-
tion technician or your dealer for servicing and readjustment.
The error display (E02) will disappear if you press the [▲] or
[▼] switch.
Notes are interrupted
• You have exceeded the maximum polyphony.
The HT-70 is designed to give priority to the notes that were
played most recently, so if you exceed the maximum polyphony,
previously-played notes will be turned off.
The maximum polyphony for the Electric piano 1 sound is 80
notes. However since the other sounds use twice as much data for
each note, their maximum polyphony is 40 notes.
If you're using the damper pedal or are playing back recorded
data, please be aware of the maximum polyphony and choose the
appropriate sound for your situation.
The pitch or tone of the piano sounds wrong in some
key regions
• The HT-70's piano sounds replicate the sound of an actual piano
as faithfully as possible. This means that in some regions of the
keyboard, you may feel that the overtones seem stronger, or that
the tone or pitch seems wrong. This is not a malfunction.

Appendix

A specific key does not sound, is too loud, is too soft
The pedal action is insufficient or too strong
The pitch is different than the acoustic piano
• Does error "E03" appear on the multidisplay? If so, the HT-70 is
not calibrated. Contact your dealer or qualified installation tech-
nician for assistance.
• If a specific key is not playing at all, or is playing too loudly or too
softly, then there is probably a problem with the calibration. Con-
tact your dealer or qualified installation technician for assistance.
• The silencing unit may cause the above problems if it is not regu-
larly maintained and adjusted by a certified installation techni-
cian. We recommend that you have your piano tuned and
adjusted once a year.
Keyboard Does Not Produce Sound When Played as Piano
(If equipped with automatic muting unit)
• Is the Muting Bar LED on the underside of the piano lit up? (☞p.7)
• The electrically-driven muting bar may be stuck in place. As a
temporary fix, you can forcibly release the bar using the release
hook included with the instrument.

Then call your dealer or a qualified service agent for advice.
Can't record
• Is there enough free space on the recorder? (☞p.16, p.25)
When I re-record from the middle of a recording, the tempo
or time signature is different for the recorded portion.
• When you re-recorded, did you set the tempo and time signature
to be the same as when you previously recorded?
When recording over existing song data, the HT-70 can change the
tempo but it cannot change the time signature. When adding new
measures to existing songs, however, the HT-70 can change both
meter and tempo ( ☞ p.16).
Can't play back recorded parts 1 and 2 with indepen-
dent tempo or time signature.
• On the HT-70, parts 1 and 2 share the same tempo and time signa-
ture. Playback will use the time signature of the part that was
recorded first (☞ p.16 ).
My external device does not respond to transmitted
MIDI data.
• Make sure that the MIDI cable is connected correctly (☞p.20).
• Make sure that the HT-70 is transmitting MIDI data on the same
channel as your external device is receiving (☞p.20).
