TAPE DECK ADJUSTMENTS
1. HEAD REPLACEMENT
4. MOTOR
AND
BELT
REPLACEMENT
.
Be sure to clean the heads before attempting
to make any
adjustments.
After replacement,
demagnetize
the heads by using a de-
gausser.
All wiring should
be returned
to the original
position
after
work is completed.
After completion
of
the adjustment,
use thread
lock (TB-
1401 B) to secure the azimuth adjustment
screws.

HEAD AZIMUTH
ADJUSTMENT
Be sure both channels
(1 and 2)
are the same
level
(Using
a dual-channel
oscilloscope).

After
completion
of the
adjustment,
use
thread
lock
(TB-
1401 B) to secure the azimuth adjustment
screws.
(1) Insert the test tape (VTT-703,
etc. :10 kHz) for azimuth ad-
justment
into tape TAPE A.
(2) Press tape TAPE A's PLAY button.
(3) Use a cross-tip
screwdriver
to turn the screw for adjust-
ment of the tape TAPE A azimuth so that the left and riaht
outputs are maximized
while tape TAPE
(4) Press the tape TAPE A's STOP button.
(5) Repeat procedure
for tape TAPE B.
3. MOTOR
SPEED
ADJUSTMENT
A is playing back.
(I)lnsert
the test tape (MTT-111 N, etc., 3000 Hz).
(2) Press the PLAY button.
(3) Ajust the VR405 so that the frequency
counter
becomes
3,000 Hz.

Clean
the
head, capstan and pinch roller before making any measurement.
