Using optical zoom
Useoptical zoom to get up to 3X closerto your subject.
1 Usethe LCDto frameyour subject.
2 Press Telephoto(T)to zoom in. Press WideAngle
(W)to zoom out.
Thezoom indicator showszoomstatus.
3 Takethe picture or video.
NOTE: For f ocus distances, see Camera specifications, page 49.
Alwaysusethe auto focusframing marks(see
page 5).
If you are usingno zoom (1X, wide angle),you
can be as closeas24 in. (60 cm) to your
subject.
Asyou zoom, you needto movefurther from
yoursubject.

Using the digital zoom
Usedigital zoom in any Still modeor during video recordingto get up to 5X
magnificationbeyondoptical zoom.
1 Press Telephoto(T)to the maximumoptical zoom limit. Release the button, then
pressit again.
2 Take the picture.
NOTE: You may notice decreased image q uality w hen using d igital z oom. The slider o nthezoom indicator
turns red when thepicture q uality r eaches thelimit f oranacceptable 4 x6-in. ( 10x 15cm) print.
