Problem
You cannot use the
handset during a
power failure.
The headset does not
work.
Noise is frequently
heard.
Two short beeps are
heard during a
conversation.
The charge indicator
flashes red rapidly.
You charged the
KX-TCA285/
KX-TCA385 battery
for 3 hours or the
KX-TCA185 batteries
for 7 hours, but the
beep tones sound,
and (needs to be
charged) flashes after
a few telephone calls.
While charging the
battery, the handset
and the AC adaptor
feel warm.
"No Service" is
displayed, and beep
tones are heard.
While charging the
battery, the LED
indicator blinks
rapidly, but the
handset does not
beep.

Possible Cause
The handset will not function
during a power failure because
the CS stops emitting radio
waves.
A headset tone cannot be heard
when receiving an incoming call
when the headset is attached.
Nearby electrical appliances are
causing interference, or you are
too far from the CS.
The radio signal is weak.
The charger is not connected
properly.
The battery charge contacts may
be dirty.
It is time to change the battery/
batteries.
These are normal conditions.
The handset is out of range.
The CS or PBX is out of service.
The temperature of the battery
being charged is outside of
normal limits.
Solution

R Make sure the headset tone
setting is set to "On". See
"Incoming Option" on Page 64.
R KX-TCA185/KX-TCA285 only:
Make sure the headset jack is
connected properly. See
"Location of Controls" on Page 17.
R Place the handset and CS away
from other electrical appliances.
R Move closer to the CS.
Move closer to the CS.
R Make sure the battery is inserted
properly.
R Set the handset in the charger
properly.
R Consult your dealer.
Clean the battery charge contacts
without damaging them and charge
once more.
Replace with a new one.

handset is being charged is
between 5 °C and 40 °C, and wait
for the battery's temperature to drop.
