Using Canon Printer Agent Creator

By using Canon Printer Agent Creator (CANPAUTL.NLM), you can discover Canon printers newly
connected to your network, and then automatically assign IP addresses to and create printer agents
(public access printers) for the new printers.

Operation Modes of Canon Printer Agent Creator

The following two operation modes are available when using Canon Printer Agent Creator:
Automatic Mode
In this mode, the software automatically searches for new printers connected to your network at the
specified interval, assigns IP addresses to and creates printer agents for all new printers discov-
ered.
Manual Mode
In this mode, you can manually search for new printers connected to your network whenever you
like. In addition to discovering new printers connected to your network, this mode allows you to dis-
cover printers that are not yet bound to a printer agent.
The software automatically assigns an IP address to printers that you select from among the print-
ers discovered, and creates a printer agent. If you select a printer that already has a valid IP
address, the software creates a printer agent only for that printer.
IMPORTANT
• This function is not available for printers with IP addresses set using DHCP. To use this function, the
printer's IP address must be assigned using a method other than DHCP.
• Using this function, you can search for printers located on the same subnet as the NetWare server where
Canon NDPS Gateway is installed.
