Problem
No power • The battery is exhausted.
• The AC power adapter plug has come out
of the power outlet.
Power cuts out during • The battery is exhausted.

Before you decide the camera is faulty, check the following once more
Cause Remedy
• Load a new battery.
• Plug the adapter back in.
• Load new batteries.
• Put the battery in your pocket or another
warm place to heat it and then load it into
the camera just before you take a picture.
• Wipe the battery terminals with a clean,
dry cloth.
• Load a SmartMedia.
• Erase some images or use a SmartMedia
that has ample free space.
• Remove the write-protection.
• Format the SmartMedia.
• Wipe the SmartMedia contact area with a
clean dry cloth.
• Load a new SmartMedia.
• Switch the camera on.
• Load new batteries.
• Set the Mode dial to the correct setting.
• Set the flash mode to Auto, Red-Eye
Reduction, Flash or Slow Synchro.
Problem Cause
I can't use the flash to take • The shutter button was pressed when the
pictures. viewfinder indicator was blinking orange.
The flash will not charge. • No compatible SmartMedia is loaded.
• The camera is set to Suppres-sed Flash
mode.

The playback image is too dark • The subject is too far away.

• Move closer to the subject.
• Hold the camera correctly.
• Clean the lens.
• Cancel Macro mode.
• Remove the write-protection.
(Peel off the write-protect sticker.)
• Remove the frame protection.
• Use the "POWER" switch to switch the
camera on again.
• Remove the battery, re-insert them and try
again.
• Load new batteries.
• Move the Mode dial to the correct setting.
