To be specific, the waterproof standards mean the following:
§ IPX7: The phone can continue to operate after it has been gently immersed in plain
tap water at room temperature, within 1 meter deep for no more than 30 minutes.
§ IPX5: The phone can continue to operate after it has been exposed to a low-
pressure water spray for about 3 minutes, through a nozzle with 6.3mm inner
diameter from a distance of about 3 meters from any direction and at a rate of
approximately 12.5 liters/minute.

Before use
Make sure the nano SIM and microSD trays are inserted into the slots securely and
their covers are closed tightly. For instructions, see

Inserting the microSD card
§ Never attempt to insert or remove the nano SIM and microSD trays with gloves,
wet hands, or when the phone is wet.
§ Before closing the covers, wipe off every drop of water or dirt with a clean, dry
cloth.
§ When closing the covers, make sure that no hairs, fibers, or small particles are
caught between the covers and the slot openings to prevent water from
seeping through the gaps and entering the phone.
While using
Don't immerse HTC Butterfly 2 in or let the USB port and headset jack come in
contact with the following:
§ Water containing soap, detergent, or shower gel
§ Sea water, swimming pools, spas, and hot springs
§ Any liquid besides tap water such as alcohol, juices, and condiments
Don't operate HTC Butterfly 2 underwater.
While the phone is immersed in water, don't press the POWER and VOLUME buttons.
Under moderate rain, you can make or receive calls with wet hands and without an
umbrella. To be specific, the rainfall's precipitation rate must be within 20 mm/hour.
You can make or receive calls while holding the phone with wet hands, such as when
you're in the bathroom or kitchen. Be reminded about the following:
