This waterheater is equipped with an automatic gas shut off sys- tem. The high temperature shut off is built into the gas control valve. This system shuts off the gas supply to the water heater burners when high water temperatures are present. It is non- resettable. -

This is common at the time of start'up after installation water is cold. Warer in the water heater bottom or on the floor may be from condensation, loose connections, or the relief valve.
