• The focus range varies depending on the Recording Mode.

Set the proper Recording Mode for the distance to the subject.
• Is the subject out of the focus range? (P25, 28 and 39)
• Have you taken a picture with jitter? (P30)

The shutter speed becomes slower when pictures are taken in dark places so hold
the camera firmly with both hands to take the pictures. (P25)

When taking pictures at a slow shutter speed, use the self-timer. (P40)
• Is the ISO sensitivity high or the shutter speed slow?
(When set to [i.AUTO], ISO sensitivity increases for indoor and other shooting
occasions.)

Reduce ISO sensitivity. (P55)

Set [COLOR MODE] to [NATURAL]. (P59)

Improve the ambient light.
• In [HIGH SENS.] and [HI-SPEED BURST] mode, the resolution of the recorded picture
decreases slightly because of high sensitivity processing. This is not a malfunction.
• If recording under fluorescent light, the brightness or the hue may change slightly when
the shutter speed becomes fast. This occurs due to the characteristics of fluorescent
light. It is not a malfunction.

• This is a characteristic of CCD, and it appears when the subject has
a bright part. Some unevenness may occur in the surrounding areas,
but this is not a malfunction.
It is recorded in motion pictures but is not recorded on still pictures.
• It is recommended that you take pictures while taking care not to
expose the screen to sunlight or any other source of strong light.

• Depending on the type of the card, recording may stop in the middle.

When you set the picture quality to [WVGA] or [VGA], we recommend using a high-
speed card with "1 OMB/s" or greater displayed on the package.

If the recording stops even if you use the card of 10 MB/s or faster, this means
the data-writing speed became lowered. We recommend backing up the data and
formatting (P24) the card.
• Are you using a MultiMediaCard? This unit does not support MultiMediaCards.

• It is possible that the subject may be warped slightly, or the borders get colored,
depending on the zoom magnification, due to the characteristics of the lens. Also, the
peripherals of the image might look warped because the perspective is enhanced when
the wide angle is used. This is not a malfunction.
