3. Remove the fasteners on the right belt cover,
then remove the cover in the sequence shown in
Figure 45.
4. Separate the front engine cover from the rear engine
cover and disconnect the wire from the spark plug
(Figure 46).
5. Clean around the base of the spark plug.
6. Remove the spark plug.
7. Examine the spark plug and replace it if it is cracked,
fouled, dirty, or if the electrodes are worn.

Important: Do not clean the electrodes because
grit could enter the cylinder and damage the
engine.
8. Set the gap between the electrodes on the spark plug
at 0.030 inch (0.76 mm) (Figure 47).

9. Install the spark plug by hand and then torque it to
15 ft-lb (20.4 N·m).
Note: If you do not have a torque wrench, tighten
the plug firmly.
Adjusting the Discharge Chute
Latch
If the discharge chute does not lock into the desired
position or does not unlock so that you can move it to
another position, adjust the discharge chute latch.
1. Remove the fastener on the gear cover (Figure 48),
lift the front of the cover up, and slide it back and
out of the way.
2. Loosen the bolt on the cable clamp (Figure 49).
