Provide and install floor coverings and environment systems that limit or control static electricity build-up and discharge In general, keep the NCR equipment area free from dust, smoke, lint, and other particles. Restrict smoking, eating, and drinking around the equipment. Avoid location the equipment near other machines that generate ink, carbon, and paper dust particles.
AC Wiring The customer must provide suitable AC power for the terminals, associated equipment, and devices. An AC power circuit dedicated to the NCR equipment installation is recommended. The AC outlet must be installed near the terminal and easily accessible to the operator.

Site Preparation 37 Power Requirements The 7448 Workstation base unit contains 100 - 240 volt AC Adapters for a printer and a workstation. The AC Adapter for a workstation provides power for up to four of the peripherals. The following tables show operating specifications for the power supply. The AC power cable plugs in at the back of the base unit.
Type1 and Type2 Usable Cable Lengths The usable (external) length of all 7448 Workstation cables is less than the total length, because a portion of the cable remains inside the base unit when connected. The usable length can also vary according to the configuration of the components.

Operating range of pressure: 105kPa to 79.5 kPa Temperature The 7448 Workstation is designed to operate over the temperature ranges shown below. Continuous operation must be avoided, however, at or near the temperature extremes or in locations where the temperature changes beyond the temperature restrictions.
Such transient energy can be very damaging to electronic hardware, and can also cause data corruption. Under these circumstances, NCR recommends the use of AC power transient suppressors. Such protection devices are intended to guard against power line transients that can result in hardware damage and various system or program errors.
Page 60
A-2 Appendix A: Transient Protection • Upon failure, exhibit a positive indication of its failure such as a blown fuse or tripped breaker. • Be listed by the accepted safety organization for the country involved (UL, CSA, VDE, ETL, and so on) and the installation must conform to local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
Be installed in accordance with all applicable local, state, and national electrical codes and regulation. Note: In certain countries, NCR is able to supply both power and data line transient suppressors as well as a comprehensive line of power conditioning equipment.
