Cold Engine Operations
1. INSPECT DRIVE BELTS
(a) Visually check the drive belts for cracks, oiliness or
wear. Check that the belt does not touch the bottom
of the pulley groove.
If
necessary,
replace the drive be lt.
(b) Using a belt tension gauge, check the drive belt ten-

2. REPLACE DRIVE BELTS
(a) Remove the o ld belts.

Install a new belt and adjust it to the specified ten-

• When checking the tension, be sure the gauge is on the
be lt protrusions.
• "New be lt" refers to a be lt which has been used less
than 5 minutes on a running engine.
• "Used belt" refers to a belt which has been used on a
running engine for 5 minutes or more.
• After replacing t he drive be lt, check that it fits proper ly
in the ribbed grooves, especially in the places difficu lt to
see.
3. INSPECT VACUUM PUMP OIL HOSES
(a) Visually check for oil leakage.
(b) Check the hoses for loose or bad connections.
(c) Check the hoses for damage or cracks.
Squeeze the hoses to check for interna l breakdown .
If soft, replace.
