Ariens Company has received a small number of reports of chain and sprocket failures on Hydro Pro
models in the model and serial number ranges listed above. There can be two failure modes:
the chain (p/n 02466200 for wheel-driven units, p/n 03232800 for track driven units) between the
hydrostatic transmission and the pinion shaft comes off the sprocket/gear (p/n 52601500 or 52611500)
during operation, or
the sprocket (p/n 04375800) on the hydrostatic transmission output shaft floats far enough on the shaft
that the key (p/n 06606100) can come out and be lost during operation.
These failures can occur if the transmission bracket (p/n 04371200) is formed to a tolerance that does not
set correct tension on the chain.
To correct this problem, Ariens Company has developed a service kit that will set the tension on the chain
and eliminate the problem from recurring.
Wheel-driven units use kit 52611700
Track-driven units use kit 52611900
Dealer Action:
In the case of a failure as described above, dealers are to install service kit 52611700 or 52611900 on the
affected unit.
For unsold inventory, dealers are to inspect the chain on the unit and determine if the chain tension is too
loose.
