Refer to the chart below when this unit does not function properly. If the problem you are experiencing is not listed below
or if the instruction below does not help, set this unit to the standby mode, disconnect the power cord, and contact the
nearest authorized YAMAHA dealer or service center.
General
Problem
This unit fails
to turn
on when STANDBY/
ON is pressed,
or
enters the standby
mode soon after the
power
has been
turned
on.
This unit suddenly
enters the standby
mode.
No sound
The sound
suddenly
goes off.
No sound
from the
effect speakers.
No sound
from the
center
speaker.
No sound
from the
surround
speakers.
No sound
from the
subwoofer.
Cause
The power cable is not connected
or the
plug is not completely
inserted.
This unit has been exposed
to a strong
external
electric
shock (such as lightning
and strong static electricity).
The internal temperature
becomes
too
high and the overheat
protection
circuitry
has been activated.
The sleep timer has turned the unit oft'.
Incorrect
input or output cable
connections.
No appropriate
input source
has been
selected.
The volume
is turned clown.
The sound is muted.
Signals
this unit cannot reproduce
are
being received
from a source component,
such as a CD-ROM.

Connect the power cable firmly.

Set this unit in the standby
mode, disconnect
the
power cable, plug it back in alter 30 seconds,
then use
it normally.
Wait about 1 hour for this unit to cool down and then
turn it back on.
Turn on the power, and play the source
again.
Connect
the cables properly. If the problem
persists,
the cables may be detective.
Select an appropriate
input source with INPUT or the
input selector
buttons.
Turn up the volume.
Press MUTE or VOLUME
+1 on the remote control
to resume audio output, then adjust the volume.
Play a source whose signals can be reproduced
by this
unit.
Turn on the power, and play the source
again.
Press MUTE or VOLUME
+1 on the remote control
to resume audio output, then adjust the volume.
Press one of the beam mode buttons
on the remote
control to select a nmlti-channel
playback
mode, then
try to playback
the source or program once more.
Raise the level of the center speaker.
Raise the output
level of the surround
speakers.
Select SWFR or BOTH.
