Cooking with induction
The principle of induction cooking is based on
magnetic effect. When you put your pan on an
induction zone and switch it on, the electronic coil
in the hob produces induced currents in the base
of the cookware and instantly raises its
temperature. This heat is then transferred to the
food inside the pan.
The best cookware to use with induction cooking
has thick flat bases with a diameter between
12cm and 22cm, as the heat will be better
distributed so cooking is more even.
Most cookware is compatible with induction
cooking. There are two ways to check the
suitability of your cookware:
Using a magnet to see if the base of the pan is

magnetic: if the magnet sticks, then the cookware
is compatible.
Place a pan filled with water on the Heating Zone

(1) and switch on. If the induction hob begins to
heat the water, then the cookware is compatible.
If the buzzer sounds, the cookware cannot be
used on an induction hob.
Noise
The induction hob uses a fan to keep the
electronic components cool during use. When the
induction hob is switched on, the fan will start
immediately, this is normal.
When a suitable pan is placed on the Heating
Zone a low level buzz can be heard, the sound is
of the induction pan connecting with the
magnetic copper coil, this is normal.
Timer
The induction hob has a built in timer which will
switch the unit to standby mode after a set time
automatically.
Follow steps 1-4 of 'Using your induction hob' on

page 3.

Lock
To lock the controls press the Lock Button (4), the
buzzer will sound and the Lock Indicator
illuminate when the controls lock.
To unlock press and hold the Lock Button for
three seconds. The buzzer will sound to indicate
the controls have been unlocked.
Automatic pan detection
• The induction hob will not work without a suitable
pan placed on the Heating Zone. If there is no
pan, or a pan that is not made of a suitable
material a buzzer will sound. The induction hob
will switch to standby mode after one minute.
• If you are cooking and remove the pan from the
induction hob without switching to standby mode
the unit will detect the pan has been removed and
stops heating immediately. The buzzer will sound
before the induction hob automatically switches
over to standby mode after one minute.
Detection of small articles
When the pan is less than 12cm in diameter or
small items (e.g. knife, fork etc.) are on the
Heating Zone or non magnetic pans are found,
the buzzer will sound. The induction hob will
switch to standby mode after one minute.
Automatic shut down
The induction hob will shut down after it has been
left on constantly for 2 hours. If you are using the
timer, the maximum cooking time is 3 hours. This
is to prevent overheating.

Error codes

If there is a technical problem with your induction
hob, then an error code will appear on the LED
screen. The code will appear as a letter 'E'
followed by a number.
E3, E6
The induction hob is overheating and has shut
down. Allow the induction hob to cool and return
to normal. The unit will reset when the
On/Standby Button is pressed (8).
