6 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
6.1.
USER RECOVERABLE ERRORS
If the unit detects a problem, one or more of the following messages will appear on the display.
The explanations given in the [ ] are for servicemen only.
DISPLAY MESSAGE
• • • • Polygon motor error.
Refer to CALL SERVICE 1 (P.112).
• • • • Laser beam error. Replace LSU unit.
Refer to CALL SERVICE 2 (P.113).
• • • • Fuser unit cannot heat up. Replace fuser unit.
Refer to CALL SERVICE 3 (P.114).
• • • • Fan motor error. Replace fan motor.
Refer to CALL SERVICE 4 (P.115).
• • • • Print motor error. (only for DC motor)
Refer to CALL SERVICE 5 (P.117).
• • • • Charge unit error
(An error occurred in the Charge unit including High voltage unit. (Also the Charger went wrong.))
Refer to CALL SERVICE 6 (P.118).
• • • • There is something wrong with the Home sensor.
• • • • There is something wrong with the drum unit. Replace the drum unit and the toner cartridge.
• • • • The document was not fed into the unit properly. Re-insert the document. If misfeeding occurs frequently,
clean the document feeder rollers and try again.
• • • • The drum unit is not inserted properly. Re-insert it correctly.

- "#3": Optional input tray
• • • • The input tray is not inserted correctly. Pull the input tray out, then reinsert it.
• • • • The memory (telephone numbers, parameters, etc.) has been erased. Re-program.

- "#2": Multi-purpose input tray
- "#3": Optional input tray
• • • • Recording paper was not fed into the unit properly. Re-insert the recording paper.
• • • • The cover at the left side of the optional input tray is open. Close it.
• • • • The ADF cover is open. Close it.
• • • • There is no space to store new items in navigator directory. Erase unnecessary items.
• • • • The drum life is near to an end. Replace the drum unit as soon as possible.
• • • • The unit has a document in memory. See the other displayed message instructions to print out the
document.
• • • • If you select the computer that will be used for receiving a fax in feature #443, and feature #442 is set to
"ALWAYS", check the connection between the computer and the unit.
• • • • Copying has stopped due to a lack of recording paper or paper being fully stacked on the output tray. See
the other displayed message instructions to continue copying. If copying is not restarted within few
minutes, copying will be canceled.
• • • • The inside of the unit is extremely cold and cannot be operated. Use the unit in a warmer area. While the
unit cannot be operated, the received documents are temporarily stored into the memory, and will be
printed out automatically when the unit warms up.
