dependable,trouble-freeservice.

program.Thefollowingsuggesteditemsshouldbe
includedinyourprogram.
• T heusershallcheckandcleanthewaterfilter
monthly.See"Water Filter Cleaning"onpage17.

Hotwaterisreleasedduring
manualoperationofthereliefvalve.Makesureall
peopleandanimalsareclearfromtheareabefore
performingthischecktopreventdeath,personal
injury,and/orpropertydamagefromhotdrainwater.
• T heusershallchecktheoperationofthepressure
reliefvalveannually.Liftingtheleverhandleon
thepressure-reliefvalveopensthevalvetoflush
hotwaterthroughthedischargelinetothedrain.
Afterseveralgallonshavedrained,releasethelever
handletoclosethevalveandstopdraining.
CARING FOR YOUR WATER HEATER

• I nspectandkeeptheareaaroundthewaterheater
clearandfreeofflammablematerials,suchas
gasolineandotherflammablevaporsandliquids.
• V isuallyinspectthewaterheaterfordamageand/or
denting.Ifpresent,contactaservicepersonnelto
verifyproperoperation.
• C heckforabnormalsoundduringnormaloperation
(e.g.,hissingorbangingnoises).Contactaqualified
servicetechnicianorplumbingcontractor.
• C heckallgasandwaterpipesforleaks.Seepage

• A fterinspections,maintenance,and/orcleaning,
ensureproperoperationbyturningonahotwater
faucet.
