0 dB No attenuation -10 dB Reduces the sensitivity of the microphone capsule, increases the maximum sound pressure level. -20 dB Reduces the sensitivity of the microphone capsule, increases the maximum sound pressure level. Additionally reduces the output gain, avoids overloading the microphone amplifiers. Adjusting the low-cut/roll-off filter Set the low-cut/roll-off switch to the desired position: Pos. Low-cut/roll-off filter Off, linear frequency response Roll-off, –6 dB/oct., cut-off frequency: 100 Hz, compensates for the bass boost due to proximity effect Low-cut, –18 dB/oct, cut-off frequency: 60 Hz, eliminates low-frequency noise such as impact sound Instructions for use Make sure that there is no disturbing noise source (e.g. PC fan, loud- speaker) in the sound inlet area of the microphone. If sibilance occurs: Position the MK 8 slightly to the side and not directly in front of the mouth or sound source. To suppress pop noise: Use a pop shield, e.g. the Sennheiser MZP 40 (see diagram E on the cover page). To reduce wind noise: Use a windshield, e.g. the Sennheiser MKW 4 (see diagram E on the cover page). The windshield changes the sound only slightly, but attenuates wind noise by approx. 10 dB.
