18. Using WiFi (Wireless Local Area Network, or WLAN)
If you have a home wireless network, or use public "hot spots" you can easily set up your phone
to take advantage of these networks. Doing so will give you a better user experience with
captions when you are outside a 3G coverage area
1. To set up an Access Point for your WiFi network under Internet.
a. Go to Menu>Control panel>Settings>Connection>Destinations>Access Point
b. You will see a menu for "Automatically check for available access points?"
Select Yes and you will see what networks are available.
c. Select the one you want to add.
d. You may see the next menu, "Selected network supports easy setup for
receiving settings. Configure now?" We recommend you say yes. If you do,
you will go to your router and push a button that is usually pretty obvious –
on the front and maybe even lite. Push and hold it for a second or two.
e. If you selected an Access Point with a security key but no easy setup or said
"no", you will enter the security code next.
f. "Select Destination": Internet
g. You will see a new Internet Access Point Added.
2. We recommend you make Internet the Default (If not already)
a. Go to Menu>Control panel>Settings>Connection>Destinations>Internet
b. When Internet is highlighted, select Options>Default connection
c. Select Internet
3. Set your preference in the MCC application
a. You may choose to use the WiFi first for the MCC application if available,
while using the cell network for other data.
b. Go to the MCC application by selecting the MCC logo.
c. Select Options>Settings>Access Point
d. Select network you want to use first. If one of the choices is "default" and
you choose it, it will go through the list of Access Points under
Destinations>Internet, starting with the first.
