Installation

Step 1: cut a hole in the ceiling appropriate for the IW speaker.
If the wires are already installed in the ceiling, pull them through
the hole.
Step 2: install the C-ring to the ceiling hole. For many ceilings,
tile rails should be used and secured firmly to the tile/ceiling
plate; the C-ring then sits between the tile rails and should be
firmly secured.
Step 3: connect the wire to the connector by placing the bare
wires into the appropriate terminals and screwing them down tight.
Speakers should be wired as described in the wiring section.
Step 4: secure the cables to the speaker. To do so, release the
cable fastener and terminal cover. Place the cable and connector
through the cable fastener and secure the connector in place. You
can then close the cable fastener and terminal cover and tighten
the screws firmly.
Step 5: push the speaker's backcan through the c-bracket. Rotate
the screw until it's tightly in place.
Step 6: in addition to securing the speaker to the c-bracket,
users can attach a cable/wire to the support ring on the rear of
the speaker. Fasten this to a support beam to ensure maximum
stability.
Step 7: Adjust the tap selector to the appropriate setting. In some
70V/100V installations, you may want to keep the speaker grille
off until audio adjustments have all been made.
Step 8: attach the speaker grille cover by first connecting the safety
tether to the tether hole on the speaker. Then push the grille onto
the speaker and ensure it sits tight around the rim.
Note: Please refer to installation illustrations on page 15.

Once connections are made, wires should be screwed in tight to
ensure they do not move within the connector.

Depending on the height of the ceiling, the coverage abilities of
the speaker may be altered. See the chart below for details on

Troubleshooting

No Audio
Check your amplifier is working correctly. This could include
checking the input signal is being fed to it, the volume is turned
up, and testing the output with a different pair of speakers. Try
replacing speaker cables.
Crackling audio
Check your cables for faults, and ensure connections are firm and
tight. Ensure the tap selector is set to the correct setting for the
amplifier that is used for the installation.
Buzz, hiss or hum
Ensure the system is grounded correctly. Check the entire signal
chain to find the source of the offending noise.
Poor quality audio
Ensure the polarity of speakers is correct. This means ensuring
the positive and negative terminals of the connectors are wired
the right way around. If you own the Phonic PAA3 or PAA6, you
can use the inbuilt polarity checker to ensure this easily. Another
easy way to tell is to check both wiring methods; whichever gives
you more low-frequency output is the correct wiring.
