Preparing for use
Step 2: Configuration of the target system in Replication Mode
Proceed as follows:
In the BIOS for the system board and SCSI adapter, define the boot sequence such that
i
the CD-ROM drive precedes the floppy disk drive (see the BIOS-Setup manual).
Ê
With the configuration floppy disk in the drive, boot the target system from the ServerStart CD.
ServerStart starts in Replication Mode and the installation runs automatically based on the
configuration file.
Device drivers needed to operate the detected hardware components will be reported and pre
installed on the selected operating system.
CAUTION!
!
To successfully install in Replication Mode, the configuration data must agree with the
hardware configuration on the target system.
Intervention in the installation process is only necessary to change carriers (operating
i
system, service packs, applications) and in the event of an incorrect or incomplete
hardware recognition.
Installation is completed.

Connecting external devices

CAUTION!
!
Read the documentation on the external device before connecting it. The power plug must
be removed before connecting external devices, apart from devices with USB interfaces.
Do not either connect or disconnect cables during storms.
Always take hold of the actual plug. Never unplug a cable by pulling the cable itself.
Connect and disconnect the cables in the order described below.
Connecting cables
Turn off all power and equipment switches.
Remove all power plugs from the mains outlets.
Plug all cables into the server and peripherals. You must observe the information provided in
the "Important notes" chapter.
Plug all data communication cables into the utility sockets.
Plug all power cables into the grounded mains outlets.
