Appendix A: Setting the IP Address
Most MC Transport users will never have to set a static Internet Protocol (IP) ad-
dress but in the rare cases that require it, the MC Mix does allow for it.
Normally the MC Transport uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to
obtain its IP address, typically from a router. The MC Transport will revert to link-
local addressing to generate an IP address if a DHCP server is not found on the net-
work, such as when an MC Transport is connected directly to a computer with an
Ethernet cable. Both of these methods of obtaining IP addresses can be overrid-
den by supplying a static IP address, which the MC Transport uses in all cases
when powered on.
CAUTION: Attempt this only if you have prior experience configuring a network.
To set a static IP address:
1. While holding down the leftmost two Soft Keys simultaneously, press and
release the POWER switch. Continue to hold the Soft Keys down until the
display lights.
Figure A-1 (left) shows the Use DHCP screen on the MC Transport's display
screen.
2. Turn the Jog Wheel clockwise to change the underlined value from yes (de-
fault) to no (Figure A-1 right).
The + and - keys on the Numeric Keypad can be used instead of the Jog
Wheel to decrease or increase the value, respectively.
