    INTRODUCTION Thank you for choosing the HDR9650TS. With its Twin Tuners and HDMI 1080i connection, you can watch all new digital DVB-T channels in High Definition. To get the best of the High-Definition programs, we advise you to connect the receiver: To your television with an HDMI cable for superior picture quality.

    PANEL OVERVIEW Front Panel STANDBY button: To turn ON/OFF Standby Mode. USB Slot: Connect for software upgrades. MENU: To enter the Main Menu. OK: To confirm the selected menu item. 5-6. CH-/+ : To change the channel up/down. 7-8. VOL-/+ : To control the level of the volume. Rear Panel ANT OUT: RF signal output to other receivers such as a TV.

    REMOTE CONTROL Button Functions POWER: Turn Standby mode ON/OFF. (No function) Numeric buttons (0-9): To enter numeric options in menus and to enter a channel number directly.     To use the remote control, point it towards the front of the HDR9650TS. The remote control has a range of up to 7 meters from the HDR9650TS at an angle of up to 60 degrees (30 degrees on each side).

  • Page 12 EQUIPMENT CONNECTION Connect the unit via YpbPr output and Audio output (for high definition viewing) Connect the antenna with ANT IN on the unit. Connect the RF loop cable via LOOP IN and LOOP OUT. Connect the unit to TV with a YPbPr cable as below. Connect the unit via HDMI output (for high definition viewing) Connect the antenna with ANT IN on the unit.

    MAIN MENU Press [MENU] to open the MAIN MENU. Descriptions of each item are as follows: Electronic Program Guide Menu Press [OK]/[▶] to enter the EPG List. For more about using the EPG, see page 18. DVR Menu Media Browser Press [OK]/[▶] to enter the DVR List for playback of media files (movies, music and photos) that have been recorded or from a connected media server.

    MAIN MENU Firmware Update Upgrade the software of the unit. (For details please refer to page 17) Factory Default Restore factory default settings, erasing all customised settings.     BASIC OPERATION Changing Channels Open the Channel List menu by pressing [OK] in Live TV Mode. Press [UP]/[DOWN] to navigate available channels. Press [OK] to view the selected channel. Channel Change can also be done by: Pressing [CH+][CH-] in Live TV Mode. Keying in the channel number using the numeric keypad in Live TV Mode.
  • Page 20 BASIC OPERATION Subtitle Press [SUBTITLE] to navigate between available subtitles of the currently viewed channel or to turn them off. Subtitle selection will be displayed in the top corner of the screen. Aspect Press [ASPECT] to cycle between available options: 16:9 Full, 16:9 Letter Box, 16:9 Pan Scan, 4:3 Full, 4:3 Letter Box and 4:3 Pan Scan.

    BASIC OPERATION Time Shift Activate Time Shift by pressing [PAUSE] in Live TV Mode. Time Shift supports a temporary program recording of up to 2 hours. The Main Screen will be paused. The information display shows the amount of time you are behind the Live TV broadcast. Press [PLAY]/[PAUSE] to resume viewing.

    Firmware can be updated via the USB port. Once you have downloaded the firmware from www.teac.com.au, place it on a USB stick. Please ensure that the USB stick has no other files stored on it other than the required software file.

    ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE Access the EPG by pressing [EPG] in Live TV Mode. Channel/Program Navigation Press [▲][▼] [CH+][CH-] to highlight a desired channel, then press OK to view this channel. Press the [▶] (RIGHT) button to enter the program list. Press [▲][▼] [CH+][CH-] to highlight a program, then press [INFO] to view detailed program information.

    RECORDING OPERATION Before recording, please select the storage destination (Internal HDD/USB) of the recorded program in the DVR menu (please refer to page 10 – DVR Setting menu). The unit will record to the Internal HDD (Built-in Hard Disk) by default if USB is not selected. The unit supports External HDDs or USB flash devices in FAT, FAT32, EXT2, EXT3 formats.
  • Page 26 RECORDING OPERATION Playback of Recorded Programs Open the Media Browser by pressing [REC.LIST] in Live TV mode. Press [OK] to preview the media file in the preview screen, press [OK] again to view the file in full screen. NOTE: If recording is in progress, the media file that is being recorded will be marked with a red square icon.

    RECORDING OPERATION Editing Recorded Programs In this mode you can remove sections of the recorded program, so that during playback, these sections will be skipped and playback will continue past the removed section. Open the DVR Menu by pressing [DVR] in Live TV mode. Select the recorded program you wish to edit using [▲][▼].
  • Page 28 RECORDING OPERATION File Copying Open the DVR Menu by pressing [DVR] in Live TV Mode. Press [▲][▼] to select the programs you wish to copy. Press the [RED] button to display the list of options. To copy a single file select Copy and press [OK].

    NETWORK In the Network menu you can listen to Internet radio stations, access media files from your PC and view weather information (upcoming). Please ensure you have the receiver connected to your internet connection via the Ethernet port on the rear panel. Once connected, the receiver will detect your network settings automatically.
  • Page 30 The Network Neighbourhood feature allows you to access and play media files that you have stored on your PC via the HDR9650TS such as video files, MP3 files and photos. Regardless of the operating system on your PC, the first step required is to create a folder on the PC’s local hard drive.
