With the EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) on the Maserati GranTurismo, you can apply the parking brake easily via an electronic control on the central tunnel instead of the traditional
mechanical lever. The EPB, as well as replacing the traditional handbrake, also has a dynamic safety function. When necessary it can be used when the car is moving: the system, communicating
with the stability control (MSP), acts on all four wheels to obtain an immediate braking action (deceleration of 0.5 g), without any loss of stability, until the control is released.
Through a set of dedicated sensors, the optional Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) checks the tyre pressures continuously.
The system displays the tyre pressures on the instrument cluster, and warns the driver if they drop below a minimum level, or in the case of a puncture.
To make hill starts easier, the Maserati GranTurismo makes use of the Hill Holder, a device which, on sloping roads, keeps the vehicle braked for a few seconds, so the driver can move their
foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal without the car rolling back.
As an aid to dynamic safety, the Adaptive Light System causes the headlights to turn in the direction of the car when cornering.
