ACTIVE SAFETY
You cannot enjoy driving in comfort and safety unless the steering is fast and precise.
By using an electronic interlocking system, the GranTurismo guarantees that the action of the power steering is always right for the speed and conditions, giving the driver a positive feel both
at high speed and during low speed manoeuvring.
Thanks to the optimal weight distribution (49% front and 51% rear with automatic transmission, and 47% front and 53% rear with sequential manual gearbox), obtained by moving the engine
back behind the front axle, the roadholding and grip under acceleration are excellent.
But the pleasure of powerful acceleration would be nothing without the decisive braking capacity of the Brembo system.
The Maserati GranTurismo offers impressive performance in its brakes' capabilities, and in their resistance to fade under intense use: the car boasts a stopping distance of just 35 metres from 62
mph to 0 mph, with an average deceleration of 1.24 g.
The MSP (Maserati Stability Programme), developed exclusively by Maserati, is a stability control system that optimizes the car's dynamics and safety on the road. The system has a series
of sensors that can detect any anomaly in the dynamic behaviour of the car and, using the brakes and the engine system, stabilises the car to keep everything under control.
The MSP:
• Recognises the onset of skidding and stabilises the car in milliseconds (MSP)
• Stops the wheels locking under braking (ABS)
• Distributes the braking force between the front and rear axles to prevent the rear wheels locking (EBD)
• Stops the drive wheels spinning on low-grip surfaces (ASR)
• Prevents the drive wheels locking when changing down on low-grip surfaces (MSR).
