  • How do I start a Husqvarna CRT81 tiller?

    To start the Husqvarna CRT81 tiller, follow these steps:

    1. Reconnect the spark plug wire and cover.
    2. Move the shift lever indicator to "N" (neutral) position.
    3. Place the throttle control in "FAST" position.
    4. Place the choke lever in "CHOKE" position.
    5. Grasp the starter handle with one hand and the handle bar with the other. Pull the rope out slowly until the engine reaches the start of the compression cycle (the rope will pull slightly harder at this point).
    6. Pull the rope with a rapid, continuous, full arm stroke. Keep a firm grip on the starter handle and let the rope rewind slowly. Do not let the starter handle snap back against the starter.
    7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until the engine starts. When the engine starts, place the choke lever halfway between "CHOKE" and "RUN" position and then move to "RUN" position as the engine warms up.
    8. Move the throttle control halfway between "FAST" and "STOP" position for a few minutes to warm up.

    Always keep the drive control bar in "disengaged" position when starting the engine.

    To replace the drive belt on your Husqvarna CRT81 tiller, follow these steps:

    1. Remove the hairpin clip and retaining pin from the hub of the left-hand wheel. Pull the wheel out from the tiller about 1-1/2 inches.
    2. Remove the belt guard by removing two screws, one hex nut, and three washers so that the belt guard can slide straight out away from the engine.
    3. Loosen belt guides "A" and "B".
    4. Remove the old belt by slipping it from the idler pulley first.
    5. Place the new belt in the groove of the transmission pulley (large pulley) and into the groove of the engine pulley. The belt must be in the groove on top of the idler pulley.
    6. Tighten the belt guides "A" and "B".
