ENGINEERED WITH THE CUTTING EDGE
The heart and soul of both Magnum and Charger is the powertrain. The driveline components of these state-of-the-art road warriors are the product of sophisticated computer-aided engineering and
the most rigorous testing. By operating with precision at incredible speeds and able to withstand the rigors of the roughest road, these parts enable Charger and Magnum to smoothly transfer engine
energy to the wheels for a quality ride.
1 DRIVESHAFT. To ensure quiet operation, driveshaft alignment is maintained within one degree under all operating conditions, with a unique collapsing feature for enhanced passenger protection.
2 TWIN-PISTON CALIPERS. Front twin-piston aluminum calipers for Charger R/T and Magnum R/T provide a larger effective radius than single-piston calipers, for improved antilock brake system
(ABS) response and maximum stopping power when Brake Assist is needed. 3 ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE (AWD) TRANSFER CASE. Charger and Magnum AWD sends 62 percent of engine torque to the rear
axle, and 38 percent to the front, delivering excellent balance and traction for improved control under diffi cult road conditions, not just ice and snow. Unique features of the available transfer case
include a full-time open differential with a clutch disk to reduce friction and prevent driveline clunk. The front axle differential is directly mounted to a structural oil pan and engine mount for maximum
stiffness. 4 INDEPENDENT SLA SUSPENSION. This four-wheel independent suspension is one of the most sophisticated and capable suspension systems the Chrysler Group has ever developed,
designed to provide excellent handling, a smooth ride and, with the tires kept perpendicular to the road during cornering, a "glued-to-the-road" feel. Short/long arm (SLA) front and independent
fi ve-link rear suspension not only absorb the bumps but provide added precision and responsiveness. 5 5-SPEED AUTOSTICK
transmission offers fully automatic or clutchless manual shifting range selection and provides for more precise control of the gear ratio. Its true 5-speed gear range provides a better balance of
performance and fuel effi ciency. Torque management is electronically controlled by the 5-speed AutoStick transmission, making for smoother gear shifting, up or down. 6 REAR DIFFERENTIAL. The
rear differential is engineered with unique gear ratios and added case ribbings to improve cooling. This rear differential uses a synthetic lubricant that not only performs better at high temperatures,
for fl ow, but is made to last, in normal service, the life of the vehicle.
