Turn key clockwise from vertical or
horiz ontal position as far as it will go. To
guard ag ainst being locked out, the k ey
cannot then be rem ov ed.

Once the boot lid / tailgate has been c losed
and the k ey turned back to the horizonta l
or vertical p osition, the lugga ge
compartment is locked ag ain.
In the horizonta l position, the lug gage
compartment is only unlocked the next
tim e the central lock ing system is unlock ed.

z The central lock ing sy stem and the anti-
theft locking sy stem for the doors cannot
be lock ed or unlocked from the boot lid /
tailgate lock
z On the convertible, the boot lid / tailga te
can only b e unlock ed if the folding top is
fully open or closed
z There is a ha ndle or strap on the inside of
the boot lid / tailgate to aid c losing
z Fitting of accessories on the b oot lid /
tailgate w ill increase its weight. If it
becom es too heavy , it will then not stay
open
Bulk y objects should not b e transported
with the luggage compa rtm ent open.
Otherwise poisonous exhaust fum es
may enter the vehicle. In addition, the
vehicle num ber p late is only clearly
distinguishable and c orrectly lit if the
lug gage compartment is closed.
