For physical reasons, the engine
temperature gauge show s the coolant
temperature only if the coolant level is
adeq uate.
During operation the system is pressurised.
The temp erature ma y therefore rise briefly
to ov er 100 °C.
In order to save fuel, coolant temperature
is electronically c ontrolled 3. This may
cause fluc tuations in the coolant
temperature display.
