The data is divided into two subframes, each with half the original data. During one of the
subframes, the image is shifted down by 1/2 pixel. The eye integrates the two consecutive
subframes to create the final image. This process is completd every 1/60 of a second, dis-
playing all of the data, every frame, just as is the case for other traditional DMDs.
The resulting image exhibits the same pixel resolution as the original input data in both hori-
zontal and vertical directions, using half the number of mirrors. The gaps are also minimized
in the process, resulting in an image that is not only full resolution, but smooth in appearance -
without the typical pixel gaps.
