    GETTING STARTED KEY FOB Locking And Unlocking The Doors/Liftgate • Press the LOCK button once to lock all the doors and the liftgate. Press the UNLOCK button once to unlock the driver’s door only and twice within five seconds to unlock all the doors and liftgate.

    GETTING STARTED REAR SEATS Folding Rear Seatback • To fold each rear seatback, pull the strap forward to move the seatback forward and flat. Reclining Rear Seatback • To recline each rear seatback, pull the strap forward just enough to re- lease the seatback latch.

    GETTING STARTED HEATED SEATS Front Heated Seats • The controls for the front heated seats are located on the center instrument panel area. • Press the switch once to select High- level heating.     OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS • A long break-in period is not required for the engine and drivetrain (transmission and axle) in your vehicle. • Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.

    OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (CVT) • While conventional automatic transmissions typically have 4, 5 or 6 speeds, the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has an infinite number of speeds. This allows it to adjust to exactly the right ratio to optimize performance and fuel economy.

  • Page 74 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES - Engine Temperature Warning Light • This light warns of an overheated engine condition. • If the light turns on and a warning chime sounds while driving, safely pull over and stop the vehicle. If the A/C system is on, turn it off. Also, shift the transmission into NEUTRAL and idle the vehicle.
  • Page 75 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES - Oil Pressure Warning Light • This light indicates low engine oil pressure. If the light turns on while driving, stop the vehicle and shut off the engine as soon as possible. A chime will sound when this light turns on.

    WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES Fuel Cap/Loose Gas Cap Message • If a “gas cap” message (shown as gASCAP) appears, tighten the gas cap until a “clicking” sound is heard. • Press the odometer reset button, located below the tachometer, to turn the message off.

    WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES WARNING! You or others can be badly burned by hot engine coolant (antifreeze) or steam from your radiator. If you see or hear steam coming from under the hood, do not open the hood until the radiator has had time to cool. Never try to open a cooling system pressure cap when the radiator or coolant bottle is hot.
  • Page 78 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES Preparations For Jacking 1. Park the vehicle on a firm level surface, avoiding ice or slippery areas. 2. Turn on the Hazard Warning flasher. 3. Set the parking brake. 4. Place the shift lever in PARK (automatic transmission) or REVERSE (manual transmission).

The front locations are outlined by two triangular cutouts, the rear locations by two rectangular cutouts. • For vehicles equipped with plastic trim, the plastic has been cut away to expose the jacking locations in the body.
  • Page 80 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES 7. Finish tightening the nuts. Push down on the wrench while at the end of the handle for increased leverage. Tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern until each nut has been tightened twice. The correct wheel nut torque is 100 ft lbs (135 N·m). If you doubt that you have tightened the nuts correctly, have them checked with a torque wrench by your authorized dealer or service station.

Never put any part of your body under a vehicle that is on a jack. If you need to get under a raised vehicle, take it to a service center where it can be raised on a lift.

    WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES JUMP-STARTING PROCEDURES • If your vehicle has a discharged battery it can be jump-started using a set of jumper cables and a battery in another vehicle or by using a portable battery booster pack. Jump-starting can be dangerous if done improperly so please follow the procedures in this section carefully.
