General Maintenance
A precision electromechanical device, the Hitachi VM-E455LA/VM-H755LA/VM-H655LA requires maintenance
after a period of normal use. We expect that no other maintenance other than head cleaning will be required
during the period of warranty unless the camcorder is used either heavily or seldom. Defective parts are covered
by the warranty. Normal maintenance is the responsibility of the owner. Consult your dealer or local VCR service
center for recommendations regarding normal maintenance based on your use patterns, location, and the age of
the camcorder.
Troubleshooting
Quality is very important at HitachL We inspect and check every camcorder carefully at the factory under the most
rigid quality control and inspection systems. If problems develop please check the following possible solutions
before inquiring about professional service.
INSERTING OR REMOVING THE CASSETTE
Symptom
Sassette holder cannot be opened when you slide
the EJECT switch.
Sassette cannot be inserted into cassette
sompartment.
3heck Point & Correction
, Connect the power source.
Load cassette in direction indicated by
_rrow on cassette.
, Cassette window must be toward outside.
;AMERA RECORDING
Symptom
3icture does not appear in the viewfinder or
3n the LCD monitor.
The camcorder cannot go into the recording
-node, even when the start/stop button is
_ressed.
3icture is out of focus.
_,uto-focus does not operate.
The created title does not appear.

. Slide the CAM/OFF/VIDEO switch to CAM.
. Check the record-protect tab on the cassette.
See page 18 for details.
. Slide the CAM/OFF/VIDEO switch to CAM.
. Make sure that "FOCUS" does not appear in the viewfinder or on
he LCD monitor. If it is displayed, press FOCUS/VOL control
)uttons to erase it.
, Auto-Focus does not operate if a special-effects filter is attached or
he objects shown on page 27 are being recorded.
. Insert the clock battery, then create a title.
. Do not remove the clock battery after creating a title.
. When the stored title (prememo) is displayed in the viewfinder or on
he LCD monitor, press the PLAY button.
NO OPERATION IS ACCEPTED
Symptom Check Point & Correction
3ower is turned on, but no Remove the power source and the clock battery. And after about one minute,
:_uttonoperations are the display in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor will be reset. Then set the
accepted, information again.
