17.0 System Settings

17.1 Entering System Settings

Use the Mode Selector to enter the SETTING Mode.

17.2 Setting Menu

The following options are available in the SETTING menu:
 Effect Setting allows you change the animation when entering into different
modes.
 Date and Time allows you to adjust the date and time on the device. (See
"Navigating Menus" in this manual.) You can also configure the player to
display information on the System Bar at the top of the screen.
 Display allows you to change the backlight settings.
 Backlight determines how long it takes for the screen to display the
screensaver (a clock).
 Backlight Brightness sets the brightness of the display.
 Screen Saver Time determines how long the screen saver will show
before the screen turns OFF. Note: the device will still be on, but the
screen will turn off to save battery power.
 Power Saving allows you to adjust the idle times and sleep times.
 Language allows you to change the display language. Supported languages
are listed under "Technical Specifications" in this manual.
 TV Out Configures whether the device itself plays audio and video on the 2.4"
Display, or if it sends the signals through the audio/video cable attached to the
earphone jack. If you turn on TV OUT, you must specify NTSC or PAL. North
American customers must choose NTSC.
 Advanced is a submenu of further options:
 Player Information displays technical information about the player.
 Desktop Theme adjusts the look of the Mode Selector screen.
 Key Tone determines whether the player makes a sound whenever you
press a key.
 Format Memory reformats the player's internal memory and creates the
necessary subfolders.
 Format External Memory formats an inserted MicroTF card and creates
the necessary subfolders.
 Set Owner allows the player to be named using the virtual keyboard.
 System Check checks your player for any problems or updates.
 Reset reboots the player.
