Follow basic safety precautions, including:
1 The kettle must only be used by or under
the supervision of a responsible adult. Use

2 Don't put the kettle, stand, cable, or
plug in liquid; don't use the kettle in
a bathroom, near water, or outdoors.
3 The scald hazard lasts long after boiling, so:
a) put the stand on a stable, level surface
b) keep it away from worktop edges
c) route the cable so it doesn't overhang,
and can't be tripped over or caught
d) wind excess cable beneath the stand
4 Don't touch hot surfaces.
5 Don't open the lid till boiling has finished.
6 Pour slowly, and don't over-tilt the kettle.
7 Unplug the stand when not in use.
8 Check the lid is fully closed before switching
the kettle on, or it may not switch off.
9 Fill with at least 2 cups of water, but don't fill
past max, or it may spit boiling water.
10 Lift the kettle off the stand to fill or pour.
11 Use the kettle only for heating water.
12 Use the kettle only with the stand supplied.
13 Don't use it with a timer or remote control.
14 If the kettle or cable malfunctions or suffers
damage, return the kettle, to avoid hazard.

1 Fill, boil, empty, and rinse – do this 3 times.

2 Lift the kettle off the stand.
3 Press the lid lever – the lid will spring open.
4 Use at least 2 cupfuls, but don't fill past max.
5 Close the lid, and press down to secure it.

7 Put the kettle on the stand – the window
will glow blue.
8 Move the switch to 6 – the window will
glow red.

9 The kettle will switch off when it boils – the

10 To switch off manually, you may move the
switch to 7, or simply lift the kettle off the
stand.

11 Lift the kettle off the stand before pouring.
12 Pour slowly and don't over-tilt the kettle.
13 Don't tilt the kettle backwards, water might
get on to the control area.
14 If this happens, sit the kettle somewhere
warm for 12 hours to dry before using it.
15 Don't worry about moisture on the stand.
The steam used to switch the kettle off is
condensed and vented under the kettle.
16 Don't worry about discolouration on the
floor of the kettle. It's due to the bonding of
the element to the kettle floor.

17 This will shorten the life of the element. A
boil-dry cut-out will switch the kettle off.
18 To avoid cycling on and off, take it off the
stand, and leave it to go completely cold.
19 Don't fill the kettle till it's cold, or it may spit.
care and maintenance
1 Unplug the stand, and let the kettle cool.
2 Wipe inside and outside with a damp cloth.
3 Keep all connectors and sockets dry.
4 Don't put the kettle or stand in liquid.
5 Don't use harsh cleaning agents or solvents.

7 Phosphate scale isn't visible, but it's there,
even in soft water areas.
8 Scale overheats the element, reducing its
life, and may trigger the boil-dry cut-out.
9 So, even with soft water, descale regularly.
