As we incrementally modify B, in a positive direction, we observe how the ball
goes higher (the highest point goes up) and stays in the air longer (the x-
intercept moves to the right).
Though we could be more precise by studying each of these graphs
individually, this can help give students a more intuitive feel of how modifying
the B-value of a quadratic function, in general form, affects the vertex (in this
case the maximum). In our problem, as B increases, the vertex moves up and
to the right. We leave it to the reader and to the student to determine if this is
always the case and to investigate how B affects the roots of the graph as
well.
